RZ-019 Double Sworder

So I was looking for more stuff to submit to WOOB 04 with. I found this partially done Zoid in my stash so I thought I might as well finish it. What I've done so far has been within WOOB rules anyway.

This kit was started all the way back in July 2005 which makes it more than 3 yers old... I've broken my own record heh.

So anyway, this kit is almost half done. I've primed it and fixed all sanded down all the obvious sprue marks.

Zoids typically come with a lot of hollowed out parts but this one was surprisingly OK. Also typical of Zoids is that the guns are blanked off. So I went ahead and drilled out the barrels of the top mounted turret.

Next up, the pilots. The Double Sworder is one of the few Zoids with open cockpits so gotta paint the Mind Riders (as they are called within the story). I decided to go for the Star Wars style colors for the pilot suits, figuring if they ever fall off (open cockpit see?), the pilots will be easily spotted haha...

Anyway, here's what I did:

  1. Primed in white
  2. Basic colors done. Painted the top part of the face to simulate a visor
  3. Washed with darker colors. Red for the orange, dark brown for the flesh and black-grey for the grey
  4. Light grey drybrush over the whole figure

The molding is not the sharpest in town but it looks fine from 2 feet away. The injection pin mark on the belly is also not as obvious as what the photos are showing.
